what is a comet? Actually they are icy bodies which makes beautiful gas and dust tails when they passes near the Sun. Most commonly they are made of frozen water, gasses and dust particles. In other words they are kind of left overs at the making of solar system as asteroids. There are so many interesting things to learn about comets. When these icy bodies float around the space they are just seems like normal asteroids but when Comets get closer to the Sun, the structure of the comets can be reveled. NIRCam filters in JWST

In the previous post we were discussed about how to download the fits data image files of JWST mission from MAST portal. In that post, we learnt how to select the required image by entering the mission and required name of the celestial object. That is the simplest way of searching a celestial object using this MAST portal. There is another method to search the required fits image files by using advanced search option. In this post we are not going to learnt about that, but today we are going to learn some details about NIRCAM filter wheel in JWST. There are several cameras and filter wheels in JWST but especially today we focus on NIRCam filter wheels. There are two types of wavelength channels and they are short wavelength channel and long wavelength channel. Short wavelength channel is 0.6–2.3 μm while long wavelength channel is 2.4–5.0 μm. Converting JWST raw FITS images into TIFF images before image process

In a previous post , we have learnt about how to download images of James Webb Space Telescope using MAST portal database. Today let’s learn how to convert FITS images in to TIFF image type using a tool called “ FITS Liberator ”.    FITS Liberator Graphical User Interface Note that, this post is for “Pixinsight” users and there is another method to process these images without using “Pixinsight”. The FITS type images cannot be processed using graphics software such as “Adobe Photoshop”. Therefore we need to convert them in to TIFF type images. Easiest way to download JWST raw image data

In this post we are going to learn how to download specific raw image files of a celestial object which was taken by JWST (James Webb Space Telescope). It is easier to just download any image from the NASA or any other website but if you need to image process the raw data by your self, you need to download the raw image data of the JWST or any other mission from a database. MAST portal is one of the best image database you can find in the internet.   AstroView of MAST Portal  First thing you need to do is to search the keyword "mast portal" in the browser search.   Searching "mast portal"   Then click the first link in the search results as shown below.
